A LITTLE GAME OF BIG THINKING
Nim.
One row at a time.
Make the last move yours.
Table rules Normal play · 3 / 5 / 7
Small rules. Deep game.
On your turn, remove one or more counters from exactly one row. Whoever takes the very last counter wins.
Tap a counter to select it and every counter to its right. Press Take to commit. Change your mind freely before taking.
Keyboard: 1, 2 or 3 selects a row; left and right change how many to take. Up and down change rows. Enter takes the selected counters. Tab and Space also work on every button.
This table
Rows always start at 3, 5 and 7. Casual sometimes makes a mistake; Perfect always makes a mathematically optimal move. Changing either setting starts a fresh game.
The first player can win from 3–5–7 with perfect play. The Perfect computer cannot be beaten if it moves first. Strategy hints are off at the start.
A standalone single-player game. Normal play only, with no misère variant. Original code and pebble artwork, drawn locally in CSS.
